Yeast is a fungus that loves the warm, dark and moist environment like vagina. The normal vagina has only a small number of yeast cells in it. When the number of yeast cells increases too much, you have a vaginal yeast infection. Over seven out of ten women develop a vaginal yeast infection once in their lifetime.
A couple of years ago, I joined the majority of women who suffered from a vaginal yeast infection. Every treatment and medication in the medical society dissapointed me. But, I found the cure that worked for me and I’d like to tell my story.
One day, I was on a treadmill in the basement of my house. I started to feel kinda itchy around my vagina. There were other symptoms such as redness, swelling and buring. I was never a vaginal yeast infection sufferer, but I was familiar with the symptoms. I thought, for sure, that I had a vaginal yeast infection. I went to buy some over-the-counter drugs like creams and tablets. The medicine gave me some relief, but it was just short term comfort.
I set up an appointment with a doctor and saw her the next day. The redness, discharge and swelling at the area were the first things she checked. She said that she had to test some samples in order to determine if I developed a yeast infection. Some of STC (sexually transmitted disease) may give same kinds of symptoms, accoring to the doctor. She returned to the room and said that I developed a yeast infection based on the lab results.
I asked her how I got a yeast infection. She told me that there are several things that cause a vaginal yeast infection. They are hormonal changes during the periods, diseases like AIDS/HIV, taking medicines like antibiotics and birth control pills, and pregnancy. I was surprised that things like stress, lack of sleep and poor eating habits can lead to vaginal yeast infection.
The doctor told me that I should not have taken over-the-counter medications before coming to see her. Seventy percent of women who buy and use over-the-counter drugs are actually not suffering from the infection. The use of over-the-counter medications without actual infection may cause yeast to get stronger, which make it harder to cure the infection when you really have it.
Beside taking medicince, the doctor gave me a list of things I should do so that the infection won’t get worse. Scented items can make the symptoms worse. Do not use things like scented tampons, pads or bubble bath. I was advised to replace pads and tampons more frequently during the menstruation. I had to choose clothes or underwear made of cotton and had to avoid any sythetic materials. I was also told to change clothes right after the workout.
I took the medications she recommended and followed all the instructions she gave me. They made me feel so much better and I had less itching and less sore. But, after a while, the symptoms came back.
This time I chose not to go to see the doctor. Instead of getting more advice from the doctor, I put my mind into doing my own research on a vaginal yeast infection. I did an extensive research online. And, one day, I found a very interesting posting in the yeast infection related forum. It was about natural ways to cure vaginal yeast infection.
It was hard to believe such simple and easy natural treatment would work. After all the treatments I tried failed me, I was a little desparate. I decided to give it a try. Within two days, I had a great relief. In two weeks, almost all the symptoms like itching and soreness were gone.
I strongly suggest you to visit yeast infection cure site if you are searching for yeast infection treatment or vaginal yeast infection cure.
