You’ve been through the doctor’s appointments, the doctor’s come back and the diagnosis is in: Ovarian Cysts or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). What treatments are available for this? What will your doctor recommend?
In your research you will find two options, drug therapy with insulin suppressing drugs or anti-androgens that suppress the androgen your body is making.
Keep in mind these treatments are still drugs - drugs that will have side-effects and cause reactions in your body that you may not be prepared for. As much as everyone wants a pill that cures our body’s problems, there isn’t one. The drugs will suppress the symptoms of ovarian cysts, but not cure the problem.
One popular drug therapy is metformin - metformin is a drug originally used to treat type 2 Diabetes and increase the body’s response to insulin, but now used as a treatment for pcos. In pcos patients the body gains insulin resistance, making metformin an available treatment for pcos. Insulin resistance in women with pcos causes the symptoms of weight gain, excess acne and reproductive issues. Some of the side effects reported by people are diarrhea, nausea, gas, indegestion and headaches.
The next popular drug therapy are anti-androgens - androgen is produced in excess by the ovaries in PCOS or ovarian cysts. This excess hormone is the reason for the majority of the PCOS symptoms. It will directly cause infertility, excess acne, weight gain and irregular cycles. Anti-androgens are also used in treatments for prostate cancers and cause a range of side-effects such as constipation, nausea, headaches and decreased sex drive.
What about non-drug treatments for ovarian cysts? A therapy you should try is outlined in the book “Natural Ovarian Cyst Relief Secrets”. It’s what I chose when I didn’t want to constantly take drugs or go into surgery. How long did I want to take those? If I could get a reliable treatment to shrink the size of my ovarian cysts and have a weapon against them - I would take it! I went down all the research paths and found it last summer. I had relief from the pain a few days after starting. Six weeks after I started I went to the doctor’s office for a checkup and new ultrasound - the cysts weren’t on the ultrasound - they were gone! I got rid of my ovarian cysts without surgery or drugs!
